Correcting a slice
Correcting a slice can be achieved mid way through a round of golf just by adjusting your stance so that you can compensate for the slice. Although this will give you a short term solution to your golf swing slice it will not cure it completely.
To rectify your golf swing and eliminate the slice you need to look at certain points of your swing
Grip:Your grip is something you may have taken for granted and allowed some bad habits to creep in. Your golf grip will be personal to you but, if your grip is wrong your wrists could turn during the downswing which will cause
your ball to slice off to the right.
You need to start with a good grip but one that also allows you to release the club properly through the impact of the club on the ball. Failure to allow this will mean that the club face is open on impact and will cause a golf swing slice.
Going back to basics and practicing gripping your club properly can have a very positive effect on correcting a slice.
Posture: You need to make sure that you are standing tall and without being stooped or bent over, and your chin needs to be up off your chest. You need to make sure the angle of your spine is straight as this will give you the freedom to swing you club freely and create a flatter shoulder turn.
Alignment: It is very easy to become lazy and adopt a bad stance. There is an easy way you can practice your stance by using 2 golf clubs. The first club needs to be laid on the ground along your toe line. The second one needs to be in front of the ball pointing towards your target.
The 2 clubs need to be parallel, if they are not, then you will be in a stance that creates an open stance which will create the slice shot.
The Set Up: To create a proper swing you need to make sure that your right side is lower than your left. All you need to do is tilt your spine slightly to the right at set up. This will cause your right shoulder to be lowered, which will allow you to get more weight in to your right side. This will give you the proper transfer of weight through your swing.
Most of these ways of correcting a slice can be practiced at home in your own back garden, but how do you know if you are doing it correctly?
One simple but very effective method is to have access to a good golfing manual or DVD and with The Simple Golf Swing by David Nevogt you get both.
The book concentrates on making sure your golf swing is correct which will also help to prevent a golf swing slice from
developing. With the book stored on your computers hard drive you can easily print off the pages you need to take with you out to the garden or even to your course to refer to when you are practising.
The Simple Golf Swing also covers in great detail how to approach the ball and your actual swing as it moves through in to the follow through. Not only can it help prevent and cure a golf swing slice, you can learn how to get more distance from your golf swing.
You also get access to The Golf Swing training DVD which is like having your own golf coach with you at any time you choose!
By setting up a lap top in your garden you can have the DVD guide you as you practice your golf swing. You can even pause it at certain points to practice that step, before moving on to the next one.
So, before paying out good money to your golf clubs resident pro. for just one hour of coaching, you may want to consider having your own golf pro at your beck and call, at any time to suite you.
